With nearly 25 years of legal experience, Carmel & Naccasha LLP Managing Partner and Co-Founder Ziyad Naccasha, has extensive background providing strategic counsel in the areas of business and corporate law, litigation, insurance and reinsurance coverage and defense. Ziyad developed much of his diverse expertise working, doing business and living in Chicago for the first 12 years of his career. That experience has been significantly enhanced by his work in San Luis Obispo, the city where he grew up and has had the opportunity to work in since 2002. Ziyad’s background handling a variety of complex legal issues and disputes in combination with his business and community contacts makes him exceptionally knowledgeable and approachable when it comes to the legal needs relating to businesses of all sizes.  

Community involvement is also keenly important to Ziyad, his family and the firm. He is actively involved on the boards of a number of local nonprofits and organizations supporting the arts, children and important local business interests. In fact, he was recognized in 2014 as Heritage Oaks Bank’s selection at the Spokes Salutes event for being “generous with his time personally and professionally” in his various roles with local nonprofits and other organizations. Also in 2014, Ziyad was recognized as one of the Pacific Coast Business Times’ Who’s Who in Professional Services, an honor given to individuals based on the “quality and quantity of their effort advising clients.”

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Ziyad was able to re-locate with his family to San Luis Obispo in time for him to attend local schools. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo he went on to receive his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1990 and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar that same year. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002 and moved his family back to San Luis Obispo at that time.
